30 years!A million reasons to give this festive season
With your support, we can continue to play a unique role in shifting Australia’s aid and foreign policy agenda.
Any donation big or small allows us to continue collaboration and solidarity with our partners, frontline communities, and movements across the region for equality and justice to lay foundations for a radically different and better future for all.
Become an annual member, a monthly donor, or just make a one-off donation. All donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible.
Here are 5 reasons why you should GIVE TO AID/WATCH
1. WE ARE RE-IMAGINING AID
Aid/Watch works with our members and partners on re-imagining the Australian aid program.
Our research, campaigns, and advocacy work are informed by our members, partners, and peoples’ struggles and movements across the Asia Pacific region.
We are small and independent. We receive no government funding. We are run by a small team of dedicated skilled and experienced staff and committee members working mostly on a pro-bono basis.
2. WE CALL FOR PEACE & JUSTICE
Aid/Watch is monitoring how Australian aid is used to counter what the Australian Government sees as a growing threat from China. The military scale up including military and economic alliances like AUKUS and Quad could threaten peace and security in the region.
3. WE ADVOCATE FOR ALTERNATIVES TO DEVELOPMENT
We acknowledge that to reimagine aid we must also redefine development.
Aid/Watch’s work centralises the demands from people’s movements across the region for system change. We believe Indigenous peoples, peasant folk, and frontline communities are at the forefront of paving the path for genuine development.
4. WE ACT IN SOLIDARITY WITH PEOPLE'S STRUGGLES
“Despite the intensifying threats and vulnerabilities, we recognise the people’s decisiveness to resist and rebuild their lives through solidarity and action.”
– Asia Pacific Research Network Biennial Statement, April 2022
To meaningfully transform the Australian aid and development agenda not only requires a commitment to the redistribution of power and resources but also requires a commitment from all of us to International Solidarity.
5. WE LOVE TO CELEBRATE!
“Celebration is an activist skill … Activists are often so focused on problems. We’re used to battle and struggle. Unfortunately, many of us have experienced defeat. Even when we do win it can be hard to take it in as we rush on to the next challenge.”
– Holly Hammond, The Commons Social Change Library
Aid/Watch is proud of our 30-year legacy that has centered justice and solidarity over charity. We couldn’t have done it without you!
