An Aid/Watch investigation into multilateral
assessment frameworks
The Australian Government’s aid arm, AusAID, now spends about $1.3b annually through multilateral organisations. These multilaterals are huge international organisations with their own priorities, and numerous member countries vying for influence. AusAID is ranking these organisations, using criteria to evaluate their effectiveness, to decide who gets what. But has AusAID got the criteria right? Aid/Watch has developed independent criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the multilaterals, including ecological footprint, record on labour rights, and commitment to working with the world's poor.
Come and hear our ideas about how the multilaterals stack up in a social justice framework, and join in the discussion about how we evaluate and understand the multilateral organisations and their relationship to the Australian aid program.
Join us on Thursday 29 March, 6.30-8.30pm, at Amnesty International Australia, 79 Myrtle Street, Chippendale, Sydney.
