AID/WATCH and Jubilee Australia invite you to a special screening of the film The Opposition

Wednesday, August 2nd at Dendy Cinemas Newtown in Sydney.

The Opposition was screened at The Sydney Film Festival to packed houses and 2 standing ovations – here is your chance to see the film and hear from AID/WATCH and Jubilee Australia about the important work we are doing on this land grabbing issue in Papua New Guinea.

The Opposition examines the battle over the eviction of 3000 people from Paga Hill community on the Port Moresby Peninsula in Papua New Guinea to make way for Australian-backed property development, dubbed as one of the country’s biggest public-private partnership projects.

With a significant number of Paga Hill residents still displaced and their grievances not resolved they are still fighting in the PNG courts to seek compensation for damages for the property damage they have suffered over the years and the human rights abuses that they have endured.

  • MC: Antony Lowenstein
  • Natalie Lowrey, Campaign Coordinator, AID/WATCH
  • Brynn O’Brien, Business and Human Rights Advisor, Jubilee Australia
  • Hollie Fifer, Director, The Opposition

Tickets are $25 each. $5.00 from each ticket sold will be contributed towards Aid/Watch and Jubilee Australia’s work to seek justice for the Paga Hill Community and ensure that Australia’s aid money does not support projects profiting from human rights abuses and corruption.

If you don’t live in Sydney, or can’t make it on the 2nd August, please consider hosting a screening of The Opposition in your community:
